Wayne is also a retired Lieutenant from the New Jersey State Police after providing 29 years of service and fully realizes the importance of providing safety and educational information.to the public. As a child passenger safety advocate, Andy Underwood has worked for B.E.C. to promote the safe travel of occupants of motor vehicles, especially children.
After becoming a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in 2008, Andy has worked throughout New Jersey in educating caregivers about the importance of protecting children before a motor vehicle crash occurs. He continued his journey by certifying as a CPS Instructor in 2017, and training others in the fight to reduce child injuries and fatalities. In 2018, Andy was recognized for the Outstanding Individual Award for his work in advocating for children and their need to be restrained in child seats for travel. Also in 2018, he became certified in school bus travel to teach transportation personnel ways to safely transport children while riding to and from school.
As a police officer in northern New Jersey for over 27 years, Andy has witnessed firsthand the devastation that motor vehicle crashes can inflict. Securing children properly in the vehicle is paramount to the mission at B.E.C.

Kristina Fehr-Hickman is a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and Instructor (CPSTI) with a strong commitment to keeping children safe on the road. What began as a personal interest as a stay-at-home mom has evolved into a fulfilling profession. After completing her CPST certification in 2019, she became an instructor just two years later, dedicating herself to educating others on the importance of proper car seat installation and usage.
Currently, Kristina teaches as an instructor with BEC and works throughout the state of New Jersey, sharing her expertise and commitment to child passenger safety. She is also certified in Safe Travel for All Children, further expanding her ability to ensure that children with medical and developmental disabilities have access to safe travel options.
Her mission is simple: to empower parents, caregivers, and communities with the knowledge they need to make every ride safer for children.

In addition to his work in passenger safety, Jazz serves as an Investigative Child Abuse Caseworkerfor the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF). As a trainer within DCF, he instructs staff on the correct use of child safety seats, ensuring child protection remains a top priority in both professional and community settings.
Debbie has been a registered nurse for over 20 years. She's worked in pediatrics, adult medicine, and rehabilitation. She volunteers for the Medical Reserve Corp of NJ and she is a special needs (neurodiverse) advocate. She volunteers for 21 Down, A Down Syndrome Awareness Group, and is active in her community. Since becoming a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and Instructor more than 15 years ago, Lori has worked with families, transportation personnel, service providers, school districts, curriculum developers and car seat manufacturers to help ensure that our little ones are being safety transported, no matter how they are traveling.
Please note that BEC is a private business ( LLC) which maintains a NJ Business Certificate, is a NJ State vendor under NJSTART, and carries its own liability insurance. All service and training costs and are based on resources needed to complete the training or service, and spelled out in the contract. All pricings and costs will require a person or persons with the ability to negotiate in the name of the company, agency, department or private party in good faith . In regards to public agencies, federal, state, municipal/city purchase orders are accepted as promise to or payment for services or training.
Students must be at least 18 years old at the time the course starts. The standardized child passenger safety technician (CPST) certification course is usually 3-4 days long and combines classroom instruction, hands-on work with car seats and vehicles, and a community safety seat checkup. Attendance is required for the entire course. All CPS students must take and pass the CPS Certification Course and pay a course fee of $95. This fee is to a separate organization, SafeKids USA. This is a separate fee apart for the BEC training cost. Parties must first register for this course by going to the SafeKids site , cps.certification@safekids.org and follow registration procedures. A full description of this course is detailed on this site. Students that achieve a passing grade will become a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.
This is a course which covers essentials needed to safely transport children. The course can be given at any level of state, county, municipal, private business or personal gatherings. It will include the proper selection, direction, location, installation and harnessing of the child and child safety seat. This course has the ability to incorporate any policies, rules, directives or orders specific to the client's request. Agencies such as Head Start programs and the NJ Division of Children and Families have been providing this type of training for their personnel. Classes have minimum and maximum attendance criteria.

Operational advances in school bus transportation need to be understood and incorporated in order to ensure safe transportation of riders. New Jersey recently revised operational training and child seat restraint laws and rules for school buses. BEC’s Coaching Systems uses a proactive approach to share the most recent, useful and important information, ensuring a working knowledge to better understand and manage your company or agency. Operational skills, methods and techniques that a driver needs to transport children are reviewed. Staff has worked in law enforcement, education, nursing, in child passenger safety and risk management, providing a holistic perspective to these principles and practices. This is a 6 hour course which can be delivered in one or two days. The course involves instructor-led lectures and workbook activities.
Coaching the Professional Truck Driver course has been designed for maximum flexibility. Many truck drivers expressed the need for a course that could be delivered in a series of short segments rather than in longer sessions. Also since most professional truck drivers are experienced drivers, you will find that this course acknowledges and builds on their experience to maximize training. This course uses lecture and student participation for completion. The course has an active work book and interactive videos. The course will introduce and review driving skills and techniques that can help keep you and the general public safe on the roads.
